Effect on clients of moving from .NET framework 2.0 to 3.5 -

We have run a desktop application on a few thousand client computers. We want to go from Frame 2.0 to 3.5, but are concerned with the impact on customers. I understand that 3.0 and 3.5 are beyond the framework, and that they install the service pack in 2.0; What specifically do I want to know:

  1. When a client is upgraded to the latest version (strong upgrade) and they only have Framework 2.0 or 3.0, then go to Windows and go to the background Invisible 3.5 will grab?
  2. If not, can we make this part of the installer or is it only available through Windows Update? ( Edit : We use MSI.)
  3. If there is no way to make the user an invisible process, then whether a site that provides step-by-step instructions Does it?
  4. If a customer is on a box where they do not have the rights to update the structure, can any such app still be used to work properly?

If you are using an MSI installer for your application, 3.5 will try to install.

If you are not using MSI, ask them to go here:

then download and install.

If they do not have access to the administrator, they will need one.
