Confused over getting GPS location in Blackberry -

I am really confused about getting the user's GPS location. Do I have to apply different logic for GSM and CDMA devices ? In addition to this there are several ways to get GPS location (cells, stand alone, cell support etc.) which are really confused to establish norms..and some networks have some modes (eg. Do I know that autonomous mode works for everyone but it can not be used on high buildings inside buildings ... so that does not make sense.
